Bonnie St. Claire suddenly interrupting her show

On May 27th, Dutch singer Bonnie St Claire sang during "Feestweek Wilhelmina '26" in Wijk en Aalburg, NL. Suddenly she interrupted her performance. Amateur video footage shows how this incident occured. "Dear sweethearts I'm not allowed to sing," Bonnie told the audience. This misadventure caused a sensation in Holland. According to SBS 6's entertainment news program "Shownieuws", Bonnie's singing performance was so bad that the public couldn't stand it. Dutch newspaper AD explained that her strict observance of Sunday rest (at midnight) might explain this interruption.

Her former colleague José Hoebee reacted to this failure on Omroep Brabant (Dutch local television and radio broadcaster). "She was a very good singer. What happened hurts so much," she said.

In the mid 1980s, Bonnie & José teamed up to record cover versions of ABBA's songs. They scored two Dutch Top 40 hits ("Cassandra" in 1984 and "Zoals Vrienden Doen" (The Way Old Friends Do) in 1985). They even released a full-length album "Herinnering" (produced by Will Hoebee). They were involved  in the ABBAcadra TV musical with other celebrities (including Marga Scheide, Ron Brandsteder and Benny Neyman) in 1985. One year later, NCRV TV channel aired "Bonnie en José in Zweden", a special taped in Stockholm and the surrounding area. In 1995, they put out a single entitled "'n Engel Als Jij" (a cover version of "Ein Engel Wie Du" originally performed by Juliane Werding, Maggie Reilly & Viktor Lazlo). In 2013, they relaunched briefly their duo. Bonnie's drinking problems provoked the end of their partnership.
